Invisalign

Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic treatment that can give you the results you want without any of the downsides typically associated with teeth straightening. They are made from clear plastic, meaning not only are they virtually invisible, but they are also significantly more comfortable than metal braces due to their lack of brackets and wires. Their removable nature also allows for more convenience and better hygiene.
HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?
When you visit Gentle Smiles Dental Smiles for a consultation, your dentist will discuss your options with you to determine if this is a suitable treatment for your situation. They will then go over what you should expect throughout the process and discuss any finer details.
They will take impressions, photos and x-rays of your teeth, which will be sent to an Invisalign technician. Once the technician has created your bespoke clear aligners, you will be instructed to wear each set for two weeks at a time. Over the course of the treatment, the trays will gradually push your teeth into position. You will be required to attend regular checkups with your dentist every six weeks or so.
WILL IT HURT?
It’s not uncommon to experience minor discomfort for the first few days of wearing your new set of aligners. Once your teeth have adjusted, this should ease. To prevent the risk of gum disease from bacteria buildup, we strongly recommend cleaning your aligners every night with a soft brush.
HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN TREATMENT TAKE?
You will start to see visible results after just a few weeks. The entire process usually lasts anywhere between six and twelve months, though this period may be shortened or delayed depending on how stubborn your teeth prove to be. Once you have completed your trays, you will sometimes need a few stubborn teeth to be tweaked into place with refinement trays.
