Invisalign is a modern way of straightening teeth that doesn’t involve metal brackets or wires. This system uses clear aligners, which are virtually invisible but much more comfortable than traditional metal braces. At Epsom Smiles, we are proud to be able to give you the perfectly aligned smile of your dreams. If you would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to call us today!

How Does the Invisalign Process Start?

When it comes to Invisalign, you’re in good hands with the dentists at Gentle Smiles Dental. A consultation appointment will allow them (and yourself) a chance to determine if this treatment option is right for your goals and lifestyle.

With this treatment, you’ll need to wear your trays for at least 22 hours per day in order to reap its benefits. If this is not something that works well with your schedule or lifestyle, Invisalign is likely not the most suitable option for you. During your appointment, you can also discuss the treatment cost and decide whether or not you would like to set up a payment plan.

Then What?

The dentist will take photos, impressions and x-rays of the inside of your mouth. These images will be sent to an Invisalign technician, who will use them to create a 3D model that shows how your teeth will look when they arrive at their final position. The technician will use this model to produce your custom aligners.

What Happens Once I Get my Aligners?

Your dentist will provide you with a series of aligners that should be worn in a particular order, each for two weeks at a time. These trays will gradually shift your teeth into the desired position.

Consistency is key when it comes to wearing Invisalign. The more time you spend with your aligner, the easier future sets will fit onto your teeth. You will need to wear the trays for at least 22 hours per day, or you risk slowing your progress, which could complicate the process. Ideally, the trays should only be removed when you are eating or brushing your teeth. We strongly suggest cleaning the trays each night with a soft brush to avoid bacteria buildup. This will hopefully prevent any risk of gum disease.

What Happens After I Finish My Treatment Plan?

You may still be experiencing some teeth misalignment after your treatment. We recommend using refinement trays to get the best results and ensure your teeth are aligned perfectly for optimal health.

It’s important to wear your retainers every night for the first few months after treatment ends. You can reduce how often they are worn down to a few times per week following this period, but it is best not to remove them altogether, as teeth can shift around at any time during your life.
